Driving on the Continent – What do I need?

At the moment the current plan is drive through parts of France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Monaco, Switzerland and Belgium. Each country has different rules to be followed, I’ve listed the individual requirements I found below based on summer driving to form my shopping list.
France & Monaco (Source: The AA)

Reflective jackets (EN471)
Breathalysers (showing an ‘NF’ number)

Germany (Source: RAC)

Full, valid driving licence
Proof of insurance (third party or above)
Proof of ID (Passport)
Proof of ownership (V5C Certificate)

All vehicles using Austrian motorways and expressways must display a motorway toll sticker (vignette). The stickers, which are valid for one calendar year, two months or 10 days, may be purchased at some petrol stations located close to the border in neighbouring countries and in Austria: at the frontier, at petrol stations, post offices, tobacconists or in ÖAMTC offices.

Italy (Source: RAC)

The same as France, but without the requirement of a breathalyser.

Switzerland (Source: RAC)

A valid UK driving licence
A GB sticker on the back of your car – even if your car has ‘Euro-plates’
Your motor insurance certificate
A warning triangle
Headlamp converters
A motorway sticker if you’re driving on the motorway – you can buy this at the border and at most petrol stations
If you usually wear glasses or contact lenses, you must carry a spare pair with you in the car.
